Dessert with oranges in caramel sauce

If you like really sweets, you have to try this recipe. I can only say, beware of addictiveness!

  1. Cut the oranges into slices on a plate to completely collect the escaping juice and remove any seeds. Store the juice and use in the sauce. Spread the orange slices on several plates or a large serving plate.
  2. Prepare the caramel sauce. To do this, pour sugar and water into a steel pan with a thick bottom. Let the mixture boil over high heat without stirring. Stir the pan regularly so that the sugar does not crystallize. Be careful at all times. The sugar mixture should get a golden caramel color.
  3. When the caramel has taken on a nice color, remove the pan from the heat.
  4. Pour in orange juice gradually. Be careful, as this will bubble up a lot at the beginning. Put the pan back on the stove over medium heat and stir for about 2 – 4 minutes to a smooth and even sauce. Stir in the butter and salt and simmer over medium heat. The longer the caramel cooks, the thicker it becomes.
  5. Allow the sauce to cool a little and pour over the orange slices. The orange slices should rest in the caramel for about an hour before serving.
  6. Sprinkle with pistachios and chocolate.
